Job summary

Milestone Retirement is seeking a Cook to prepare meals that meet nutritional and safety standards while ensuring resident satisfaction. You will support culinary operations and dining services in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Under the Director of Culinary Services, you will follow approved menus, monitor temperatures, and help train culinary staff while upholding health and safety compliance and fostering teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of food service experience; three years preferred
• Food Handler’s Permit as required by state
• First Aid certification
• Must be 18 years or older
• Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements
• Ensure food is safely stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including all equipment and prep areas
• Assist in training and mentoring culinary staff
• Monitor and respond to resident preferences and satisfaction
• Uphold safety and health standards, including food safety compliance
• Foster teamwork and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
• Report any elder maltreatment or abuse as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
