Job summary

Boy s & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) seeks a dynamic Chief Operating Officer to lead day-to-day operations and translate strategic vision into high-quality youth programs, welcoming spaces, and robust systems. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will oversee programs, staffing, and organizational processes with a focus on safety and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of progressive senior management experience in youth development or related nonprofit sectors.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience leading programs and teams in mission-driven environments.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and staff development experience.
• Experience using data and evaluation to improve programs and outcomes.
• Knowledge of youth development, facilities management, and safety standards for youth‑serving organizations.
• Familiarity with BGCA standards and reporting requirements preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on operational leadership.
• Background in trauma‑informed care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for programmatic and operational functions, ensuring safe, high-quality, mission-driven services.
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop, implement, and monitor BGCG’s strategic plan.
• Lead, coach, and develop senior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Establish organizational goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and dashboards to measure program quality, operational effectiveness, member outcomes, and strategic progress.
• Direct the design and delivery of all youth development programs — after-school, teen, workforce development, and family engagement.
• Ensure programs meet BGCA standards and best practices in youth development, academic success, and social-emotional learning, with safety embedded in every program area.
• Lead membership outreach efforts to grow enrollment and expand BGCG’s reach into underserved parts of the community.
• Strengthen teen-focused programming to boost engagement, belonging, and retention.
• Use data, member feedback, and evaluation to track program efficacy, identify opportunities for innovation, and set measurable outcomes that drive continuous improvement plans for staff.
• Oversee facility operations to ensure safe, welcoming, and efficient environments for members and staff.
