Job summary

Aquent in Chicago is seeking a seasoned content designer to lead conversational content strategy and UX writing for chat experiences. You will craft dialogue, prompts, and navigation to ensure clarity, accessibility, and alignment with business goals.

Collaborating with product designers, developers, and legal experts, you will distill complex ideas into concise content, audit existing materials, and evolve guidelines and tone across platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of dedicated experience in content design, content strategy, and UX writing.
• Proven ability to design accessible, scalable, user-centered conversational experiences.
• Strong organizational skills with juggling multiple projects and translating strategy into action.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders including subject matter experts, reviewers, editors, and legal/compliance professionals.
• A portfolio showcasing your conversational design work is required with your application and resume.

What You’ll Do

• Create and manage compelling content for chat experiences, including crafting dialogue, prompts, error messaging, and navigation, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and alignment with user needs and business objectives.
• Collaborate strategically on content strategies and information architecture, developing systems of words, content types, and defining voice and tone to ensure content aligns with established audience and business goals, research insights, brand standards, legal and compliance requirements, accessibility best practices, and digital standards.
• Work closely with conversation and product designers, product managers, development teams, and legal experts to bring innovative conversational experiences to life.
• Distill complex concepts into clear, concise, and contextual content and taxonomies, always seeking simplicity and user understanding.
• Conduct thorough audits and inventory of existing content to identify gaps in quality, compliance, standards, and branding.
• Continuously refine conversational content based on user feedback, analytics, and testing, while strictly adhering to accessibility, compliance, and brand standards.
• Maintain and evolve digital content guidelines, standards, tools, and processes to ensure consistency and excellence across all platforms.

Must-Have Qualifications

• At least 5 years of dedicated experience in content design, content strategy, and UX writing.
• A proven track record of designing accessible, scalable, and user-centered conversational experiences that demonstrate clarity, engagement, and seamless interaction.
• Advanced organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and adept at navigating between strategic planning and tactical execution.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholder teams, including subject matter experts, content reviewers, editors, and legal and compliance professionals.
• A portfolio showcasing your conversational design work is required with your application and resume.

• Experience working in a regulatory environment that requires rigorous legal and compliance oversight.
• Proficiency with collaboration and agile technology platforms, such as Jira.
