Job summary

Sycuan is seeking a friendly Convenience Store Sales Associate to greet customers, assist with purchases, and ensure a smooth checkout experience. You will handle POS transactions, bag items, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities include stocking shelves, maintaining displays, and keeping aisles clear. Prior retail experience is a plus; bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a bonus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Current Food Handler's card.
• Convenience store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly customer service by welcoming customers and assisting with information, processing purchases in POS, handling payments, bagging items, and thanking customers on departure.
• Maintain a clean and safe facility by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring health and safety policies are followed.
• Open/close cashier station, balance cash, process transactions accurately, and report discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Job Purpose:

Provides friendly, efficient service to convenience store customers and maintains facility in good working order

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides customer serviceby acknowledging and welcoming customers as they enter the store in a friendly and courteous manner, providing customers with information and assistance as needed, entering customer purchases in point-of-sale system, collecting, counting and processing payments following established procedures, bagging or boxing purchases for customers, issuing refunds according to established procedures, and thanking customers for their business upon departure. -50%


2. Maintains a clean and safe facilityby cleaning, stocking and organizing store shelves, counters, walk-in coolers and cashier stations, displaying products in a visually appealing manner, keeping aisle ways free of debris and obstacles, mopping floors, disposing of trash and cleaning trashcans, cleaning and monitoring sidewalks, parking areas, fuel dispensers, and canopy areas, and observing health, regulatory and safety policies and procedures. -30%


3. Provides accounting of transactionsbyopening cashier station according to established procedure, ensuring opening drawer cash count is correct and adequate change is available, processing all transactions accurately, closing cashier station according to established procedure, calculating total cash payments received, balancing and reconciling closing drawer with cash sales, preparing cash and credit receipts for deposit, and reporting unresolved discrepancies to the Store Manager. -20%

Education and Experience:

Essential:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience


• Current Food Handlers card
