Job summary

Marvin is seeking a Controls Technician to support electrical controls and automation across our manufacturing operations. You will work with maintenance, engineering, and facilities to design, implement, and support advanced manufacturing automation.

Responsibilities include developing PLC sequences, debugging programming, assembling control panels, and ensuring on-time project delivery. Travel as required and ongoing education to stay current in the industry are expected.

Qualifications

  • Field-related degree or PLC programming experience.
  • Ability to read ladder logic, function block diagrams, and object-oriented languages.
  • Ability to read electrical control schematics and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and assist with PLC programming to develop sequence of operation.
  • Provide technical support for electrical controls and programming.
  • Maintain controls component installation base list and mitigate obsolete components.
  • Assemble electrical controls panels according to schematics and standards.
  • Deliver project assignments on-time and work independently or in a team.
  • Apply communication and problem-solving skills to support the controls team.
  • Travel as required.

Job Overview

As a Controls Technician, you will be working as a member of the CEG Controls Team to provide electrical controls and programming support for manufacturing operations throughout the Marvin family of brands. You will find yourself working closely with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and facility personnel to design, implement and support advanced manufacturing automation technologies.

Highlights of your role
  • Understand and assist with PLC programming to develop the sequence of operation for manufacturing equipment
  • Provide technical support of electrical controls and programming related technologies
  • Maintain controls component installation base list, and support at risk mitigation of outdated or obsolete components
  • Assemble electrical controls panels according to electrical schematics, control diagrams, and applicable standards
  • Deliver project assignments on-time
  • Successfully support projects through completion, either independently or within a team
  • Apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to support controls team
  • Ability to travel as required
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • Field-related 2-year degree or 1 year of relevant PLC programming experience
  • Understanding of programming using ladder logic, function block and object-oriented languages
  • Ability to understand and read electrical control schematics and documentation
  • Ability to use and read electrical test instruments
  • Willingness and ability to remain current on changes in the development industry through continuing educational activities
