Job summary

Marvin is hiring a Weekend Controls Technician to troubleshoot and repair production equipment, focusing on PLC control systems and electrical/mechanical issues. The role trains on days for up to two months before transitioning to the evening shift, supporting continuous production in our Kansas City facility.

The job requires 2+ years in a related role, an associate’s degree (preferred), and the ability to obtain forklift and aerial-lift licenses. Proficiency with EAM and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience required.
  • Associate’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift and aerial platform licenses.
  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management software and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems on production equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs using Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500/5000.
  • Document repairs and preventive maintenance in the work order system (EAM).
  • Operate and troubleshoot servo motors, DC motors, and induction motors.
  • Collaborate with CEPG on machine improvements and support PLC across the plant.

Job Overview

The Weekend Controls Technician will assume advanced tasks relating to the production machines and will troubleshoot all electrical and Mechanical problems on equipment, including PLC controls. This position is responsible for analyzing equipment to troubleshoot problems and making any necessary repairs to electrical, mechanical or PLC programming changes related to production reliability.

  • This position will train on the day shift for up to 2 months before transitioning into the evening shift.
Work Schedule

Friday - Sunday 6:00am - 6:00pm

Highlights of your role
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards , problems and the need for service, repair and/or replacement of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Proficiently use ladder logic programming with experience in the Allen Bradley platform based programming, including RS Logix 500 and 5000.
  • Work efficiently with work order system (EAM) to document repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Traces problems using electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Discusses performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.
  • Maintains backups of programs from all electrical devices.
  • Checks newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Use basic Servo Controls (open and closed loop systems) and set up variable frequency drive operations and parameters .
  • Perform basic motor operation and troubleshooting on Servo motors, brushed DC motors, and Induction motors.
  • Works closely with the Custom Equipment Process Group (CEPG) on machine improvements.
  • Will have the skills to properly use a digital multimeter.
  • Works closely with maintenance and is able to assist with troubleshooting electrical problems and able to provide PLC-support across the plant.
  • Concisely and accurately documents set‑points and parameters for equipment.
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • 2- years experience in a closely related role is required
  • Associate’s degree in a technical-related field is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to obtain forklift and aerial platform licenses
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Enterprise Asset Management software experience and ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs proficiently

Compensation
