Job summary

The Hershey Company is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer in Lancaster, PA for a 2nd shift. You will provide technical leadership to Operations and Maintenance, focusing on electrical controls, instrumentation, and automation across packaging and processing lines.

You will diagnose complex issues, lead project work, coordinate with suppliers, and drive improvements in safety, reliability, and efficiency. A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology with an electrical/mechatronics focus or equivalent.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in operations, engineering, controls, automation, or maintenance.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support to Operations and Maintenance in troubleshooting and optimization of electrical controls, instrumentation, networking, PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and related automation technologies.
• Perform and guide installation, repair, maintenance, and calibration activities across manufacturing and utility systems using specifications, drawings, data, and diagnostics to ensure accurate work.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate technical activities involving multiple teams to minimize production impact.
• Define root causes, develop corrective action plans, and implement sustainable solutions to reduce recurring problems.
• Own technical processes and lead controls-related projects from planning to startup and implementation.
• Support plant Maintenance and lead continuous improvement efforts for safety, reliability, efficiency, and throughput.
• Ensure electrical drawings, controls documentation, and software are up-to-date.
• Provide technical analysis including cost estimates and feasibility reviews for capital solutions.
• Coordinate with vendors, engineering, supervision, and internal teams to implement solutions.
• Promote safety, quality, and standards and manage risks, including food-industry practices.
