Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Execution: spend 50% in the field performing technician duties and complex installations/repairs.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: directly supervise Georgia field service technicians and promote development.
  • Technician Scheduling: coordinate with Dispatch to maximize billable utilization and meet KPIs.
  • Safety Leadership: drive a zero-injury culture and conduct site safety inspections.
  • Quality Control: perform monthly PMs and inspections to ensure standards.
  • Financial Management: track service department revenue, gross margin and labor utilization.
  • Technical Escalation: be the first point of escalation for complex issues across systems.
  • Resource Management: monitor budget items and inventory for service operations.
  • Training: identify training needs and mentor technicians on new technologies.

OVERVIEW:

The Controls Service Field Supervisor is a mid-level leadership position that combines direct field operations with team supervision. This is a working supervisor role, with approximately 50% of the time spent in the field performing technical duties, assisting with complex jobs, and conducting quality inspections. The Supervisor is responsible for leading the field service technicians within the Georgia division to ensure high-quality service delivery, safety compliance, and departmental profitability while mentoring the team to reach their full potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Field Leadership & Execution (Working Supervisor): Spend 50% of time in the field performing the physical duties of a technician, assisting with complex installations/repairs, and providing hands‑on technical support.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Directly supervise Georgia field service technicians; promote self‑discipline, self‑development, and enthusiasm within the team.
  • Technician Scheduling: Work closely with the Controls Support Representative and Dispatch to optimally schedule technicians, maximizing billable utilization while meeting customer response time KPIs.
  • Safety Leadership: Drive a zero‑injury safety culture by ensuring all team members adhere to safety standards, conducting site safety inspections, and maintaining high division driver scores.
  • Quality Control: Perform monthly planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and service repair quality inspections to ensure work meets company and customer standards.
  • Financial Management: Track and manage the financial performance of the service department, including revenue, gross margin, and labor utilization (Service P&L).
  • Technical Escalation: Serve as the first point of escalation for complex technical service issues, utilizing expertise in multiple manufacturer systems (Schneider, Tridium, Distech).
  • Resource Management: Monitor and control budget items such as tools, uniforms, and materials; maintain and track inventory for service operations.
  • Training: Identify additional training needs on emerging technologies and industry trends; train technicians in company philosophy and core values.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Safety:
    • < 97% Division Drivers Score
    • 0 Recordable Injuries
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Maximize > 85% billable utilization through optimized scheduling.
    • 50% Field Time Allocation (Direct Labor/Field Support).
  • Financials:
    • Maintain Service P&L targets (Revenue and Gross Margin)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a control technician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledgeable in multiple control manufacturer systems; certifications in Tridium Niagara N4/AX, Schneider EcoStruxure, and/or Distech are highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, and rooftops; must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and operate tools safely.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor others, make critical on‑the‑job decisions, and communicate effectively with customers and management.
  • Education: High school degree or equivalent required; strong knowledge of building management system (BMS) structures.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% within the Georgia and Alabama division to support field operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
