Actalent in Sparta, TN is seeking a Controls / Manufacturing Engineer for a contract-to-hire role on the shop floor. You will design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems and automation to enhance reliability and throughput.

You will collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering to integrate new equipment and improve processes. The position emphasizes hands-on installation, commissioning, analysis, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial automation and manufacturing equipment.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and drawings.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Collaborative work with production, maintenance, quality and engineering teams.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S principles.

Responsabilités

• Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA and automation systems for performance.
• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation issues to minimize downtime.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup.
• Implement process improvements to increase throughput and quality.
• Analyze data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics and control documentation.
• Work with maintenance on preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Lead lean improvement projects and capital-equipment initiatives.
• Train staff on new equipment and processes.
• Support new product introduction and process validation.
