Job summary

Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic and materials science. The role focuses on developing and modifying Allen Bradley PLCs for a fiber optic cable plant, leading control-system projects, and driving process improvements through collaboration with integrators and cross-functional teams.

The position emphasizes hands-on engineering, project leadership, and rigorous safety/quality standards in a manufacturing setting, with standard M–F business hours and travel unlikely.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with controls aptitude.
• Ability to debug and monitor PLC code – ladder logic.
• Strong electrical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Knowledge of ANSI standards, NFPA and NEC electrical codes.
• Data analysis using Excel, Access, SQL and/or PowerBI.
• Ability to lead project or process improvement teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for our fiber optic cable production plant.
• Design and implement new control systems projects.
• Manage the control engineering scope of process improvements and capital expansion.
• Implement robust, cost effective automation and process machine control systems.
• Interface with external system integrators to deliver integrated equipment.
• Participate in design, fabrication, testing, installation, start-up and tech transfer.
