Job summary

AAM - American Axle & Manufacturing in North Vernon, IN seeks a Controls Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on evaluating control systems, developing specifications, and ensuring safety-compliant functionality for machinery and automation.

You will work with Allen Bradley PLCs, servo controllers, and HMI products/software, reviewing electrical drawings and providing engineering support across manufacturing disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation.
• Experience in Allen Bradley PLC’s, Servo Controllers, HMI products, and software.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate control systems, products, components, and applications.
• Evaluate new manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.
• Confirm control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
• Prepare and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
• Ensure integrity of process and build data collection.
• Provide information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
• Keep equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
• Maintain project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.
• Manage supplier development and delivery.
• All other duties as assigned.
