Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Controls Engineer for our Hammond, IN client in the manufacturing and industrial automation sector. You will support plant automation and controls initiatives, troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and related systems, and ensure safety and compliance across operations.

You will drive improvements, update drawings, and contribute to maintenance planning and capital project execution at the Hammond plant, collaborating with internal and external resources to keep systems reliable

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in the controls & automation field.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering‑related field.
• Experience with PLC systems including programming and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Allen‑Bradley automation systems and software including Factory Talk, ControlLogix, RS Logix; also, Rockwell DCS, Plant PAX, and HMI’s; and/or proficiency with Beckhoff PLC systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot plant control systems including PLCs, VFDs, I/O hardware, sensors, HMIs, networks, DCS systems, and automation software.
• Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations and Huhtamaki standards.
• Recommend improvements and optimizations for safety, quality, productivity, and environmental goals.
• Update control system drawings and documentation, ensure hardcopies and electronic copies are current.
• Plan weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance and support capital projects for the Hammond plant.
