Job summary

Marquardt in the United States is seeking a Controls Engineer to design electrical controls for mechatronic systems and support PLC programming for new and upgraded equipment.

The role covers electrical panel design, BOMs, schematics, system specs, testing, startup/commissioning, and some PLC programming. You will collaborate with internal teams and may travel to support installations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years relevant experience including college-level related coursework.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred.
• Ability to read / create electrical schematics.
• Ability to measure signals in a control enclosure with a multimeter.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on complex equipment.
• Ability to develop technical documentation and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Ability to participate in equipment installation and modification.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees.
• Knowledge of PLC (ladder logic) programming.
• Experience with text, function-block diagram, or flowchart-based computer languages.
• Experience with industrial robot programming or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Compose electrical schematics for new equipment based on specs / templates.
• Oversee assembly of electrical control enclosures to improve future designs.
• Compose PLC and HMI programs for new equipment.
• Develop robot and actuator programs and templates for new designs.
• Update software change log and repository.
• Bring new equipment online and troubleshoot wiring and programming.
• Perform preproduction builds and assist with training and transfer to production.
• Prepare operating and troubleshooting documentation.
• Participate in equipment design reviews and investigate problems.
