Job summary

Designed Conveyor Systems is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead the hardware aspects of controls projects from concept to electrical system design. You will design electrical systems for material handling, develop BOMs, program PLCs, and oversee commissioning and on-site support.

You will collaborate with vendors, influence electrical standards, and help grow a new team through knowledge sharing and process improvements. A strong communicator with hands-on experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of relevant experience in controls engineering (or 3+ years without a degree) in material handling environments.
• AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN experience is required.
• Experience with electrical schematics, control panels, and layouts for material handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls electrical designs and assist with implementation for material handling systems.
• Design electrical systems including field device placement, panel layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Develop BOMs, select components, and validate equipment.
• Program PLCs and oversee commissioning, debugging, and validation.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support during installation.
• Ensure projects meet scope, timeline, and customer expectations.
• Develop and maintain electrical design standards and install procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate emerging material handling technologies.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities via value engineering, without compromising performance.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the Controls team.
