Job summary

Designed Conveyor Systems is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead electrical design and PLC programming for material handling projects. You will design panels and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, specify components, and validate equipment while conducting on-site support and commissioning.

You will collaborate with vendors, develop standards, and mentor engineers, with travel up to 50% to job sites and customer meetings.

Qualifications

1+ years of relevant experience in controls engineering or 3+ years without a degree.
Experience with electrical schematics, control panels, and material handling layouts.
Willingness to travel up to 50% and work on-site with customers.

Responsibilities

Lead controls electrical designs and assist with implementation for material handling systems.
Design electrical systems including field device placement, control panel layouts, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
Select components, design networks, BOMs, and validate equipment.
Program PLCs and oversee commissioning, debugging, and validation.
Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support during installation.
Ensure on-time delivery within scope and to customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain controls and electrical design standards.
Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement emerging technologies in material handling.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.
Mentor engineers and share knowledge across the Controls team.
Support recruiting efforts and provide feedback on vendors.
