Job summary

BW Design Group seeks a Controls Engineer to join our Control System Integration Practice in Sterling, VA. You will collaborate with seasoned leaders and technical specialists to deliver high-quality automation solutions for leading clients.

You will design, implement, and commission PLC/SCADA systems, participate in project planning, and travel as required for installation and start-up activities. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred and experience in industrial environments is

Qualifications

Minimum of three years of direct experience as a controls engineer in an automated manufacturing environment (food, beverage, consumer health products, or similar).
Experience designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).
Solid understanding of UL508A panel design and fabrication.
Solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C).
Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration.

Responsibilities

Develop automation solutions and participate in design, configuration, testing, commissioning, and start-up of automated manufacturing processes.
Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings.
Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
Configure software and hardware packages per client specifications.
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).
Communicate project plan progress to stakeholders and manage project deliverables.
