Job summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for advanced manufacturing processes. You’ll contribute to capital projects and plant automation from concept to commissioning, focusing on reliability, safety, and efficiency.

The role involves working with Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, or equivalent and supporting lasers, robotics, and material handling. Travel up to 25% domestically is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. or A.S in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 3–5 years of controls engineering with industrial automation project experience.
• Experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) and HMI/SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Participate in capital projects like laser cutting, robotic welding, and material handling.
• Develop control logic, IO lists, HMI screens, and documentation; support FAT/SAT and commissioning.
• Assist with electrical schematics and controls documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ensure safety standards and machine safeguarding practices are applied.
