Job summary

SCN - Search Consulting Network partners with a leading Industry-Leading Manufacturer to hire a senior Controls Engineer in Mississippi. The role focuses on electrical, robotic, PLC, and automation systems to improve uptime and reliability.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in automation within manufacturing, extensive Siemens PLC/TIA Portal experience, and familiarity with safety standards. A Master’s or MBA is a plus and autoCAD/MS Office proficiency is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field required.
  • 7+ years of automation experience in manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal is required.
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus.
  • Experience with FANUC Robots, FANUC Vision, Cognex Vision, and Atlas Copco tooling is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience with machine risk assessments, safety evaluations, and electrical codes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement modifications to electrical, robotic, PLC, and automation systems to improve uptime and reliability.
  • Develop controls and automation improvements to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex PLC, robotic, electrical, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor others in automation development and equipment design.
  • Review engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend improvements.
  • Manage suppliers and equipment vendors through design, installation, and implementation of new process equipment.
  • Prepare and manage capital projects, ensuring budgets and schedules are met.
  • Coordinate major maintenance activities, emergency repairs, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with internal teams on integrated process monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure equipment and vendors comply with plant safety, electrical, automation, and ISO standards.
  • Maintain equipment, controls, and project documentation.
  • Support Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, timing, and results to plant leadership.
