Job summary

Akkar is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to design, program, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing control systems within a global automotive and industrial supplier.

You will work on Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, develop HMIs, design electrical controls for equipment, support robotics and drives, and collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality to raise quality, productivity, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field required; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong PLC programming experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC, DCS, and HMI systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
  • AutoCAD or similar CAD experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLC, DCS, HMI, communication networks, and electrical control issues.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain controls documentation, standards, and procedures.
