Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking a Controls Commissioning Lead for a hyperscale data center project in Las Vegas, NV. You will own the controls commissioning scope, coordinate testing, and lead a team across BMS/BAS, PLCs and integrated systems.

You’ll report to the consultancy’s leadership, work with client and contractors, and help drive commissioning standards as the business expands in mission-critical environments. Las Vegas-based role with lucrative base and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls commissioning across data center projects.

Job description

Las Vegas, NV | $160k–$200k Base + 1.5x Overtime

We’re exclusively partnered with a specialist mission-critical consultancy that is looking for an experienced Controls Commissioning Lead to support a major hyperscale data center project in Las Vegas.

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, specialist consultancy where you’ll have genuine technical ownership, direct exposure to major data center projects and the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As a Controls Commissioning Lead, you will take technical ownership of the controls commissioning scope across a complex mission-critical facility.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating, testing and validating integrated controls systems, working closely with the client, commissioning teams, controls contractors, OEMs and other project stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the controls commissioning process across assigned data center projects
• Reviewing and validating BMS, BAS, PLC and controls systems
• Developing and reviewing commissioning procedures, test scripts and functional performance testing
• Supporting Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and failure-mode testing
• Troubleshooting complex controls and integration issues
• Reviewing sequences of operation and ensuring systems perform in accordance with design intent
• Coordinating with mechanical, electrical, controls and commissioning teams
• Supporting the integration of BMS, EPMS, PLCs and packaged equipment
• Providing technical leadership to engineers, contractors and project teams
• Acting as a key technical point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
• Identifying issues, driving resolution and ensuring systems are ready for operational handover
• Helping develop and improve commissioning standards, processes and best practices as the consultancy continues to grow

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in controls engineering and commissioning, ideally within mission-critical or data center environments.

Experience with some of the following would be highly relevant:

• BMS / BAS
• PLCs
• HVAC controls

• Functional Performance Testing
• Integrated Systems Testing
• BACnet / Modbus
• EPMS
• Niagara / Tridium or other major BMS platforms
• Mission-critical / hyperscale environments

We're particularly interested in candidates who have progressed into a Lead / Senior / Technical Authority position and can take ownership of complex controls scopes rather than simply execute predefined testing.
