About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Controls Team Lead to take ownership of controls engineering and delivery across a growing portfolio of large-scale data centre projects.

This is a senior technical leadership position for someone who understands the full lifecycle of mission-critical controls, from design and standards development through construction, integration and commissioning.

You will help establish scalable controls standards and ensure they are consistently implemented across multiple projects, working closely with engineering teams, controls contractors, integrators and commissioning teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead controls engineering and delivery across multiple data centre projects.
  • Develop, maintain and improve BMS and EPMS controls standards.
  • Own and review Sequences of Operations (SOOs) and controls reference designs.
  • Establish controls requirements for new projects and ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Review controls drawings, points lists, graphics, alarms, sequences and integration requirements.
  • Manage and provide technical direction to controls contractors and systems integrators.
  • Review controls programming and identify issues before systems reach commissioning.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, MEP and commissioning teams to ensure effective systems integration.
  • Support L4/L5 commissioning and controls integration, ensuring systems perform as intended.
  • Identify recurring controls issues and develop standardised solutions across the portfolio.
  • Support the development of scalable controls strategies for future projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to controls engineers and project teams.
  • Drive consistency, quality and reliability across controls delivery.
Experience Required
  • Significant experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial automation or a closely related environment.
  • Strong understanding of BMS, EPMS and building/industrial controls systems.
  • Experience developing or reviewing Sequences of Operations.
  • Proven experience working with controls contractors, integrators and vendors.
  • Experience taking controls systems through construction, integration and commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of controls architecture, points lists, graphics, alarms and system integration.
  • Ability to review technical documentation and identify design or programming issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working across engineering, construction and commissioning teams.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Niagara, Ignition or similar controls platforms.
  • EPMS / power monitoring experience.
  • Experience with controls cybersecurity.
  • Experience with automated commissioning or controls validation.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring controls engineers.
Why Join?

This is an opportunity to move beyond delivering controls on individual projects and take ownership of how controls are designed, standardised and delivered across an entire data centre portfolio.

You will have significant influence over technical standards, contractor performance, commissioning readiness and the scalability of future projects.
