A leading General Contractor with a strong presence in the mission-critical sector is looking to add an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of large-scale hyperscale data center projects across the Midwest.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the industry's most respected builders, working on some of the most complex and technical facilities in North America. You'll play a key role in driving commissioning strategy, start-up, testing, and turnover activities from construction through owner handover.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities on hyperscale data center projects from pre-construction through final turnover.
- Manage and coordinate third-party commissioning agents, trade partners, consultants, and client stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, and testing procedures.
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls, and integrated systems testing.
- Drive successful Level 1-5 commissioning activities and IST execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule milestones.
- Ensure all commissioning documentation, quality requirements, and turnover packages are completed accurately.
- Partner closely with construction, MEP, QA/QC, and operations teams throughout project delivery.
- Support client meetings and provide regular updates on commissioning progress and readiness.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commissioning experience specifically within data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, and controls systems.
- Experience leading commissioning efforts on large-scale hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical facilities.
- Proven understanding of startup, testing, balancing, integrated systems testing (IST), and turnover processes.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest as project needs dictate.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
