Job summary

Williams Companies seeks a controls-focused Technical Specialist to maintain and optimize advanced control systems for major horsepower and power distribution installations. The role emphasizes DCS, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA across high-tech facilities with a focus on reliability and safety.

You will troubleshoot, tune, and optimize control loops, collaborate with engineering, support commissioning and upgrades, and drive data-driven decisions with real-time systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in instrumentation, electrical, or automation technology.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in oil & gas or industrial automation.
• Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring, and maintaining DCS, PLCs, and HMIs for reliable performance.
• Troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing control loops and networks.
• Supporting SCADA platforms and real-time data systems for data-driven decisions.
• Collaborating with engineering and operations to improve controls reliability.
• Participating in commissioning, startup, and upgrades of control systems.
• Reviewing documentation and control schematics with a focus on architecture.
• Leading or supporting automation projects and training initiatives.
• Maintaining records and compliance documentation for controls systems.
• Performing other duties related to controls excellence and continuous improvement.
