Job summary

Continental Group Sector ContiTech in Iowa seeks an Electrical/Automation Engineer to support manufacturing automation. You will program, configure, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing equipment and assist in control-system maintenance.

Collaborating with engineers on installations, documenting wiring diagrams, and training maintenance technicians, you’ll apply safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, controls automation, mechatronics, or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience with control systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of electrical schematics and industrial networks.
• Knowledge of PLCs, Allen Bradley, Siemens.
• Strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work on equipment and support the production and maintenance teams.
• Demonstrated competency in basic use of hand tools, including multimeters.
• Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
• The ability to work support nights and weekend shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs for equipment.
• Support troubleshooting of control systems, drives, and instrumentation to reduce downtime.
• Help maintain documentation of control programs and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineers on equipment installations and process improvements.
• Learn and apply safety standards and company policies in all tasks.
• Support capital spending projects and implementations of new equipment.
• Assist and support the implementation of Factory Talk and other automation software.
• Work with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement projects.
• Support and train maintenance technicians.
• Support TPOC, Gemba, and 5S programs.
• Training and coaching on MES, Camline, Iconics, WiriTec, among others, depending on the implementation package.
