Job summary

Continental is seeking an Automation Engineer to assist in programming and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing/compounding equipment, and to support control systems across the plant.

You will collaborate with engineers on installations, help maintain wiring diagrams, and apply safety standards while supporting MES and automation software implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, Controls Automation, mechatronics, or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience with control systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of electrical schematics and industrial networks.
• Knowledge of PLCs, Allen Bradley, Siemens.
• Willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing/compounding equipment.
• Support troubleshooting of control systems, drives, and instrumentation to reduce downtime.
• Help maintain documentation of control programs and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineers on equipment installations and process improvements.
• Learn and apply safety standards and company policies in all tasks.
• Support capital spending projects and implementations of new equipment
• Assist and support the implementation of Factory Talk and other automation software
• Work with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement projects
• Support and train maintenance technicians
• Support TPOC, Gemba, and 5S programs
• Training and coaching on MES, Camline, Iconics, WiriTec, among others

Job Description

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Assist in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing/compounding equipment

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, Controls Automation, mechatronics, or related engineering field
• 2+ years’ experience with control systems in a manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of electrical schematics and industrial networks
• Knowledge of PLCs, Allen Bradley, Siemens
• Strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Willing to work on equipment and support the production and maintenance teams
• Demonstrated competency in basic use of hand tools, including multimeters
• Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
• The ability to work support nights and weekend shifts as needed
