Job summary

Sophia Manufacturing in Sophia, WV seeks a Senior Accountant/Controller to own the accounting function for a growing manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on role handling the full accounting cycle, month-end close, financial reporting, job costing, payroll, budgeting, and cash management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience is required.
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables & reporting) and Microsoft Office proficiency are required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management and general ledger.
• Own the month-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements and variance analysis.
• Prepare financial reports for leadership including weekly cash reports, income statements and balance sheets.
• Support manufacturing cost accounting, job costing and inventory accounting including annual physical inventory.
• Coordinate bank reconciliations, daily deposits, credit card transactions and customer credit checks.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and ongoing financial analysis.
• Support compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and lending requirements.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Support basic onsite HR functions while maintaining confidentiality.

Senior Accountant/ Controller – Manufacturing

Job Type: Full-Time

Typical Hours: 40-hour workweek, flexible start between 8:00 and 9:00 am

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of the accounting function for a small, growing manufacturing operation in Sophia, WV. In this hands-on, high-impact accounting role you’ll manage the full accounting cycle and work closely with leadership. You’ll have visibility into the entire business from month-end close and financial reporting to job costing, payroll, budgeting, and cash management.
