Position Overview

The Controller will lead the organization's accounting function and ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. This individual will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage the monthly and annual close processes, lead the external audit, and support strategic financial initiatives while developing and mentoring a high-performing accounting team. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day accounting operations and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Lead the annual external audit and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
  • Monitor cash flow and support treasury management activities.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a collaborative accounting team.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to provide financial guidance and operational support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic finance initiatives.
Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • Previous experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
  • Experience within a nonprofit organization strongly preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience with modern ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
