Straub Collaborative, Inc. in Portland, OR, is seeking a Controller to own the accounting function for the studio and affiliated entities. You will report to the CFO, lead a small team, and provide reliable financial information to guide strategy and profitability.

You will own the close, controls, and day-to-day accounting operations, partnering with leadership to improve workflows and financial clarity. This role emphasizes independence with CFO oversight.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a controller/manager role.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and internal control frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll journal entries, and payroll liability reconciliations.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and coaching junior team members.
• Proficiency with an accounting or ERP system and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining financial data to non-finance leaders.
• Track record of improving accounting workflows and working independently under CFO oversight.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis for CFO review.
• Maintain the rolling cash forecast and annual budget.
• Record payroll journal entries each pay period and reconcile payroll-related liability accounts.
• Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting processes and internal controls, including vendor setup, payments, card transactions, and expense reports.
• Lead day-to-day audit fieldwork and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Connect the numbers across entities and manage accounting for affiliated entities with consistent policies.
• Develop a team you can depend on by supervising and mentoring staff; coordinate with CFO and HR on hiring.
• Lead accounting system implementations and workflow improvements; recommend policy and process changes.
• Provide backup support during peak periods and perform other duties as assigned.
