Job summary

Straub Collaborative seeks a Controller to own the accounting function for its creative production studio and affiliated entities. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead a small team, stay close to the details, and translate improvements into practical changes that strengthen financial clarity.

You will drive the monthly close, budgeting, and internal controls, while guiding cross‑functional stakeholders. This role suits an experienced accounting leader who values collaboration and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA a plus.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience including 2–3 years in a controller/manager role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and coaching juniors.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate financial statements.
• Maintain rolling cash forecast and annual budget.
• Record payroll journals and reconcile payroll liabilities.
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting processes and internal controls.
• Lead audit fieldwork and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage accounting for affiliated entities under CFO oversight.
• Mentor accounting staff and collaborate with CFO and HR on hiring.
• Lead system implementations and workflow improvements.
• Provide backup support during peak periods.
