Job summary

The Innovative CPA Group in Shelton, CT seeks a seasoned Controller to lead the firm’s accounting operations at its Shelton headquarters. The role focuses on financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic analysis to support growth and compliance.

You will supervise the accounting team, drive month-end closes, and coordinate with external auditors while maintaining strong internal controls and reliable financial data for location-specific performance and company-wide planning.

Qualifications

• At least eight (8) years of Controller/CFO experience.
• Expert with QuickBooks Online.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and present monthly/annual financial reports including monthly P&L by location, forecast vs. budget by location.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance with regard to long-term goals, budgets, and forecasts; provide growth recommendations.
• Lead financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and analyze target company financials and risks.
• Supervise accounting department systems, databases and software; oversee staff.
• Oversee month-end close processes and improve efficiency.
• Manage cash flow planning and ensure funds availability.
• Maintain banking relationships and alliances with vendors/partners.
• Oversee weekly cash management and AP; approve large payables and sign checks.
• Supervise Accounts Receivable management and guide collections.

Controller for CPA Firm

The Innovative CPA Group (ICG) is looking for a Controller to join our team in our Shelton, CT headquarters. The Innovative CPA Group is an employee-centric firm comprised of experienced tax and accounting professionals. Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee and present monthly/annual financial reports including monthly profit and loss by location, forecast vs. budget by location, etc.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance of firm with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts. Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
• Lead financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, including in-depth review and analysis of target company financial statements, key performance metrics, and risk exposures.
• Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
• Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
• Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
• Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
• Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs.
• Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.
