Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controller in Austin, TX, hybrid on-site. This venture-backed defense tech company needs a hands-on leader to build the accounting function from the ground up, own the close, gov’t contract compliance, and drive system implementations.

The role offers equity, a direct path to VP/CFO, and strategic influence with founders. Citizenship and security clearance readiness are required.

Qualifications

Public accounting background with Big 4 preferred.
Controller/Assistant Controller in government contracting is ideal.
Hands-on DCAA, indirect rate and cost experience.
Experience selecting and implementing finance systems at early-stage companies.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

Oversee all core accounting functions: GL, payables, receivables, payroll integration and close.
Design COA, cost structure and indirect pools for federal contracting.
Implement a DCAA-compliant environment and timekeeping system.
Prepare billing rates, incurred cost submissions and forward pricing.
Maintain FAR/DFARS/CAS compliance and support audits.
Lead revenue recognition across contracts and prepare monthly/quarterly reports.
Drive internal controls and public-company readiness.
Evaluate and implement finance systems and connect to project data.
Draft policies and scale the finance team.
Manage external auditors and tax advisors, transitioning work in-house.
