Job summary

Critical Materials Group in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Controller to own the books, close, and government contract compliance, bringing in-house what is now outsourced. You will build and lead a finance team, manage external accounting relationships, and partner with CEO and FP&A to drive cost and performance insights.

Applicants should have CPA, 8+ years in accounting including 3+ years in leadership, and experience with defense contracts, ERP systems, and DCAA-related processes. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and an active CPA license.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Controller or in a core finance leadership role.
• Direct experience with defense or federal contracts.
• Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, DCAA audits, indirect rates, and incurred cost submissions.
• Has built or scaled an accounting function at a startup or high growth company.
• Experience running accounting in an ERP with project or job costing.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger, close process, and US GAAP financial statements.
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll accounting, expenses, and reconciliations.
• Build/deliver government contract accounting systems compliant with DCAA.
• Lead finance team development and manage external accounting relationships.
• Collaborate with FP&A for pricing, cost history, and bid strategy.
