Job summary

Lenape Valley Foundation in Doylestown, PA is seeking a Controller to provide accounting leadership and financial stewardship in a nonprofit behavioral health setting.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across multiple funding sources, helping guide strategic decisions and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s degree a plus).
• CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
• Progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit setting.
• Experience with audits, grants, and multi-funding-source compliance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
• Proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Prior experience leading and mentoring accounting staff.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and long-range financial planning.
• Support annual audits and act as a primary liaison with external auditors.
• Oversee fiscal compliance related to government funding, grants, and contracts.
• Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support organizational growth.
• Lead and develop a professional accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support program leadership with meaningful financial insight.

We are seeking an experienced Controller to provide strong accounting leadership and financial stewardship in a complex behavioral health environment.

This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and functions as a key financial leader within the organization. The Controller is responsible for the integrity of LVF’s accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls- partnering closely with senior leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.
