Job summary

Lenape Valley Foundation, a Bucks County nonprofit, seeks an accomplished Controller to lead accounting, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and strengthen internal controls. You will partner with the CFO to drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning while supporting audits and multi-funding projects.

You will mentor a growing accounting team, translate complex data into actionable insights, and guide cross-functional leaders with financial stewardship to sustain mission impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master’s degree a plus.
• CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
• Progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit setting.
• Experience with audits, grants, and multi-funding-source compliance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Prior experience leading and mentoring accounting staff.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and long-range financial planning.
• Support annual audits and act as a primary liaison with external auditors.
• Oversee fiscal compliance related to government funding, grants, and contracts.
• Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support organizational growth.
• Lead and develop a professional accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support program leadership with meaningful financial insight.
