Andrews & Cole, LLC, a growing PE-backed sports management company in the Baltimore metro, seeks a newly created Controller/Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager. Reports to the CFO; oversees accounting and FP&A, including month-end close, GL integrity, and reporting.

Flexible on-site collaboration with occasional travel to corporate offices. The role requires a BS/BA, CPA preferred, 3–7 years of accounting (public accounting strongly preferred) and strong GAAP knowledge; advanced Excel;

Qualifications

• BS/BA in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred.
• 3-7 years accounting experience, public accounting strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations and audits.
• Experience budgeting and forecasting across multi-location operations.

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
• Lead or support month-end and year-end close processes.

Do you love sports and entertainment? Our client, a growing PE backed sports management company, is hiring a newly created Controller/Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager.

Reporting to the CFO, this person will oversee all aspects of the accounting and FP&A function.

Flexible work arrangement with preference for periodic onsite collaboration and occasional travel to corporate offices or operational locations.

Must be local to the Metro DC area.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Lead or support the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and balance sheet issues.
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests and support audit fieldwork.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and ongoing financial forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actual and budget/forecast results and provide insights to leadership.
• Support cash flow reporting and financial planning activities.
• Evaluate and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting processes.
• Partner with operational leaders to better understand business performance and financial drivers.
• Assist with ad hoc analyses, projects, and strategic initiatives as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA required, CPA preferred.
• 3-7 years of accounting experience, depending on level.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with account reconciliations, general ledger management, month-end close, and audit support.
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Demonstrated teamwork, discipline, accountability, and a competitive drive to succeed.
• Experience in staffing, sports, entertainment, hospitality, event services, or other multi-location/service-based businesses a plus.
• Familiarity with: QuickBooks Online (QBO)/Intuit Enterprise, Paychex, Ramp.
• Experience working in high-growth or entrepreneurial environments.
• Former collegiate or high school athlete preferred.
