Role Description
The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Willis, TX, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for Montgomery County Concrete LLC. Daily responsibilities include managing general ledger activity, supervising accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing financial statements, and overseeing payroll and job cost reporting. The Controller monitors cash flow, supports budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with ownership and project management to provide accurate financial insights, support bidding and project planning, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. The Controller also helps refine internal controls, implements process improvements, and supports external audits or reviews as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in financial accounting and reporting, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks or similar systems, Microsoft Excel) and comfort working with financial data and reports.
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.
- Understanding of internal controls, compliance, and relevant accounting principles; experience supporting audits or reviews is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with field teams, project managers, and leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (such as CPA or CMA) is a plus.
- Prior experience as a Controller, senior accountant, or similar role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or another project-driven industry.
- Ability to work on-site in Willis, TX, and maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
