Job summary

Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, is seeking a Controller to lead our Finance team and oversee daily accounting operations, payroll, and financial reporting. This full-time, day-shift role collaborates across departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.

You will supervise a small accounting team, strengthen internal controls, and manage purchasing and logistics to ensure cost-effective procurement and efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Five to seven years of accounting or finance experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively with individuals across the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience supervising or leading teams preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Purchasing and Logistics department.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Supervise and support the accounting team, providing guidance and leadership as needed.
  • Oversee purchasing and logistics operations to support cost-effective procurement, inventory management, and efficient supply chain processes.
  • Analyze financial information and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, HR, Purchasing and Logistics, and other departments on financial and operational matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, purchasing, and operational processes and systems.
  • Prepare financial reports, correspondence, and other documentation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Controller position is part of the Finance department and is a full-time role working day shift, Monday through Friday. The Controller oversees core accounting operations as well as the Purchasing and Logistics department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and effective financial and operational processes.

This position oversees financial reporting, month-end close, general ledger management, internal controls, and a small accounting team responsible for payroll, accounts payable, cash management, and close activities. The Controller also provides leadership and oversight to Purchasing and Logistics and works collaboratively with Finance, Operations, HR, and other departments. The role provides opportunities to support strategic financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
