Job summary

MedOne Surgical in Sarasota, Florida, seeks a hands-on Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting and strengthen the financial information, processes, and controls for a growing manufacturing environment. You will report to the President and CFO and help leadership understand financial and operating performance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, hands-on month-end close, product costing, budgeting, and internal controls, with a manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with hands-on responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Hands-on inventory and product or cost accounting experience in manufacturing, medical device, or another product-based environment.
  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash flow reports, and management reporting.
  • Strong Excel and accounting systems skills, with the ability to improve processes and build reliable information from developing systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate what the numbers mean.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process and prepare timely, reliable financial statements and management reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions, and reconciliations.
  • Establish reliable inventory accounting and coordinate physical inventory counts and variance investigation.
  • Develop and maintain product costing, including material, labor, overhead, margins, and cost variances.
  • Coordinate the annual budget and periodic forecasts and maintain a 13-week cash forecast.
  • Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and segregation of duties.
  • Partner with operations to analyze profitability, inventory, labor efficiency, scrap and rework, purchasing trends, and other manufacturing cost drivers.
  • Support improvements to accounting, inventory, and ERP systems and the quality of financial and operational data.
  • Coordinate routine reporting and information requests with outside accountants, tax professionals, auditors, and other service providers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

MedOne Surgical is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting function and strengthen the financial information, processes, and controls that support the business. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being close to the operation and can bring structure, accuracy, and discipline to a growing manufacturing environment. The Controller works directly with the President and CFO and plays an important role in helping leadership understand financial and operating performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with hands-on responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Hands-on inventory and product or cost accounting experience in manufacturing, medical device, or another product-based environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Controller, plant controller, accounting manager, senior accountant, or similar hands-on accounting leadership experience in a small or mid-sized manufacturing organization.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional credential.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing, medical device, or ISO-controlled environments.
