Strive Surgical in New York is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations across multiple entities, reporting to the CFO. The role blends in-office leadership with one day remote work and requires building the infrastructure for new service lines, sites, and acquisitions.

Base salary is $180,000–$200,000, plus a 10% target bonus and benefits; requires CPA, 8+ years in accounting (with public firm experience preferred) and strong NetSuite/US GAAP expertise.

Strive Surgical (formerly New York Bariatric Group) is a multi-entity healthcare organization made up of several physician practice management companies and four ambulatory surgery centers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Arkansas. Building on our roots in bariatrics, we are expanding into pain management, orthopedics, and spine surgery. We are looking for a hands‑on Controller to lead accounting operations through this growth.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Controller owns the accounting function across all entities: the monthly and annual close, the annual external audit, and internal controls. Reporting to the CFO, this person will build the accounting infrastructure needed for new service lines and sites.

This position is 4-1 Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day work from home).

Compensation is $180,000 – $200,000 base salary, plus 10% target bonus and benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the monthly and annual close across multiple entities in NetSuite, including consolidations and intercompany eliminations
  • Own the annual financial statement audit: planning, preparing audit schedules, and serving as the main contact for the audit firm
  • Work with the in-house billing team on patient revenue recognition, contractual adjustments, A/R reserves, and cash reconciliation
  • Design, document, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Manage account reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and the balance sheet
  • Coordinate with outside tax advisors on entity-level filings
  • Improve close processes and systems, including NetSuite and Coupa

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
  • Supervise and develop the accounting team
  • Experience accounting for patient revenue, including contractual adjustments and A/R reserves
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience
  • NetSuite experience is strongly preferred; Coupa experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Hands‑on leader, comfortable in a growing, fast‑moving organization
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • CPA required
Preferred:
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting audit (Big 4 or national/regional firm preferred)
  • Healthcare accounting experience required; ASC or physician practice management preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is performed onsite in an office environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regular eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
