Job summary

Jobot is seeking a highly experienced Controller to join our growing team in the Mortgage industry. This role focuses on job costing, billing, cash flow management, aging reports, P&L, and inventory/accounting with Sage Intacct.

The candidate will lead and develop the accounting team while ensuring GAAP compliance and timely financial reporting. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of accounting leadership, CPA or MBA preferred, and strong knowledge of HVAC MEP, labor trends, and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Mortgage industry experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and other financial management software.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring GAAP compliance.
• Managing cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
• Coordinating all audit activity and year-end close process.
• Analyze financial data and present reports; communicate financial status to senior leadership.
• Implementing job costing and billing procedures to maximize profitability.
• Leading training and development of the accounting team.

Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our growing team in the Mortgage industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to bring their expertise in job costing, billing, cash flow management, aging reports, P&L, Sage Intacct, Inventory Accounting, HVAC MEP, labor trends, year-end close, financial statements, and training and development of the accounting team. With a minimum of 5+ years of experience, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, strategic planning, and team leadership.

Responsibilities:

1. Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Managing organizational cash flow and forecasting. Directs all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
3. Coordinating all audit activity and year-end close process.
4. Consistently analyzing financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
5. Implementing job costing and billing procedures to maximize profitability.
6. Utilizing Sage Intacct for inventory accounting and monitoring labor trends.
7. Leading the training and development of the accounting team, ensuring continuous improvement and growth.
8. Managing and tracking the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
9. Overseeing HVAC MEP to ensure financial efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Mortgage industry experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and other financial management software.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, billing, cash flow management, and aging reports.
• Experience in HVAC MEP and labor trends.
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
• Proven leadership skills with a track record of training and developing a high-performing accounting team.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
