Idea Financial, a fast-growing lending platform in the US, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all financial operations, reporting, and compliance across the organization. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations: general ledger, revenue recognition, loan accounting, and expense management.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including reporting to credit financing partners.
  • Oversee consolidation and intercompany transactions across multiple entities, including monthly close journal entries.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
  • Oversee the Accounting Manager in accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Manage the entity listing, including creating new entities as needed, preparing annual state filings.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and record loan originations, repayments, interest accruals, and servicing income.
  • Manage reconciliations of loan activity with custodians, fund administrators, credit warehouse, servicers, and internal systems.
  • Manage bank accounts and liquidity across entities daily, including opening new bank accounts as needed.
  • Approve ACH/wires, manage cash flows between entities, and ensure proper use of funds across SPVs and conduits.
  • Maintain banking relationships and monitor covenant compliance as applicable.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax preparers.
  • Prepare audit and tax workpapers, and support annual financial statement audits and tax return filings.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting
  • Implement and improve accounting and operational systems and controls.
  • Help scale the finance function as the firm grows, including potential onboarding of junior staff or third-party support.
  • Various ad-hoc activities and projects, as needed.
  • Support HR and payroll processing.

We are a fast-growing lending platform focused on providing flexible and innovative credit solutions to SMEs in the US. Our portfolio encompasses a range of small business financing and specialty lending products. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a results-driven Controller to lead all aspects of financial operations, reporting, and compliance. The Controller will oversee the accounting function, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making through financial analysis. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in lending, loan accounting, or financial services.

This individual will be responsible not only for managing the day-to-day financial functions but also for supporting the business with a wide range of ad hoc projects. Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to private credit, investment funds, or structured finance.
  • Experience working in a small company or start-up environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, Excel, and familiarity with fund accounting systems or loan servicing platforms.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
