Job summary

Dimension IV Madison Design Group is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the firm's accounting and financial operations. This is a working role, not just a management position, with involvement in bookkeeping, billing, financial reporting, project accounting, payroll, and business administration while partnering with firm leadership.

You will monitor cash flow, manage WIP and project budgets, coordinate payroll and benefits, and serve as the primary liaison with CPAs, payroll providers,

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and job costing.
  • Familiarity with WIP reporting, utilization metrics, and project profitability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
  • Process accounts payable, client billing, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Maintain project budgets, WIP reporting, profitability tracking, and project billing.
  • Monitor cash flow and support banking activities.
  • Coordinate payroll, employee benefits, and personnel recordkeeping.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CPA, payroll, benefits, insurance, and banking partners.
  • Maintain accurate financial and administrative records while supporting compliance, audit, and tax requirements.

Job description

We are a well-established architectural firm seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the firm's accounting and financial operations. This is a working role, not just a management position. The successful candidate will be directly involved in everything from bookkeeping and billing to financial reporting, project accounting, payroll, and business administration while partnering closely with firm leadership.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting activities.

What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience, preferably within an architecture, engineering, consulting, construction, or other professional services firm.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and job costing.
  • Familiarity with WIP reporting, utilization metrics, and project profitability analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, and Deltek Ajera or similar project-based accounting systems.
  • Experience coordinating payroll and benefits administration.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • A hands-on, self-motivated professional who enjoys taking ownership of processes and contributing across multiple areas of the business.
