Electrex Industrial in Harrison Charter Township, MI, is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead financial operations for our electrical contracting projects.

You will oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and profitability analysis, partnering with project managers to drive growth.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader, with construction exposure.
• Deep knowledge of job costing, WIP, overhead, and construction accounting.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate numbers to insights.
• Experience with Foundation Software and Payroll4 Construction is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Collaborative leadership and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and month-end close.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts.
• Implement internal controls and ensure industry-standard compliance.
• Partner with project managers to analyze job performance and profitability.
• Optimize financial systems, processes, and workflows.
• Manage banking relationships, insurance, bonding, and audits.
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team.
• Provide backup to other departments as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and month‑end close
• Develop and maintain accurate financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts
• Implement strong internal controls and ensure compliance with industry standards
• Partner with project managers and leadership to analyze job performance and profitability
• Optimize financial systems, processes, and workflows
• Manage banking relationships, insurance, bonding, and audits
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team
• Provide back‑up to other departments and staff, as necessary

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader—construction or electrical contracting experience strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, overhead burden and construction accounting principles
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights
• Knowledge of Foundation Software and Payroll4 Construction a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• A collaborative leader who communicates clearly and confidently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
