Job summary

Central Business Solutions, Inc. in New York, NY, seeks a Controller-level finance leader with deep project accounting experience in architecture or design firms.

You will oversee budgeting, forecasts, and month-end closes, manage A/R, A/P, and cost accounting, and ensure Ajera-driven reporting and billing accuracy. Ideal candidates have CPA (preferred), 5+ years in accounting/financial management, and strong leadership with cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strong knowledge of month-end/year-end close, budgeting/forecasting, and project/job cost accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee all accounting operations: A/R, A/P, billing, revenue recognition, cost accounting, GL management.
  • Manage payroll processes and ensure accurate compensation reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Conduct internal financial reviews and support external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and financial filings.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Advise leadership on financial strategy and planning.
  • Support long-term financial planning and growth initiatives.
  • Project Accounting: track project costs/profitability, prepare monthly client billings, produce job cost reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.

Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
