Controller

Homeland has partnered with a leading industrial equipment and warehouse solutions provider to hire a Controller who will serve as a key leader within the finance department and oversee all accounting operations.

The Controller will play a critical role in driving accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and optimizing accounting processes. The ideal Controller is a strategic thinker with deep GAAP expertise, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Based on performance, the Controller will be strongly considered for promotion to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) within approximately 12‑18 months — making this an exceptional opportunity for candidates seeking advancement into an executive‑level role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger staff
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans for team members
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Provide analysis of financial performance, trends, and variances
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial records
  • Review and refine accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Oversee compliance with audits, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Support strategic initiatives through financial modeling, analysis, and scenario planning
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide operational decision‑making
  • Collaborate with IT and system vendors to optimize accounting systems and ERP tools
  • Lead or support system upgrades, integrations, and implementations within the finance function
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
  • CPA or CMA certification (preferred)
  • Experience in an industrial equipment sales/service business or a similar industry (preferred)
  • Familiarity with ERP system implementation (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Highly ethical, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality
Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a base salary of $130,000 plus a bonus, with first‑year OTE between $150,000–$160,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
