Executive Recruiter, Accounting and Finance
CV Resources is partnering with a fast‑growing pharmaceutical manufacturing client in search for a Controller to be responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will oversee the month‑end close process, cost and inventory accounting, technical accounting compliance, and serve as the primary lead for audits. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep manufacturing accounting expertise, and experience building scalable accounting operations in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages.
Cost & Inventory Accounting
- Oversee all cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost controls.
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to improve costing accuracy, inventory controls, and margin analysis.
Technical Accounting & Compliance
- Lead technical accounting research and implementation for new accounting standards and complex transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, inventory, leases, capitalized manufacturing costs).
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos and ensure proper documentation and policy compliance.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.
Audit & External Relationships
- Serve as the primary lead for external audits, including planning, execution, and resolution of audit findings.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants.
- Coordinate preparation and review of audit schedules, support requests, and financial statement tie‑outs.
Leadership & Team Management
- Build, lead, and develop the accounting and cost accounting teams.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability within the accounting function.
- Lead or support ERP system implementations, upgrades, and conversions.
- Establish best practices for policies, procedures, and financial controls.
Qualifications
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Big 4 public accounting experience highly desired
- Minimum of 2+ years at the Controller level
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or life sciences/pharmaceutical environments
- Hands‑on experience leading or supporting ERP system implementations and/or system conversions
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional partnering skills
