Job summary

Noor Staffing Group seeks an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a commercial real estate investment portfolio. You will lead a team of five, manage monthly and quarterly closes, and partner with senior leadership on budgeting, cash management, and portfolio-level accounting.

The role requires an active CPA, 7+ years in accounting, and CRE owner/operator experience, with strong GAAP knowledge and Excel/ERP proficiency.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for a commercial real estate investment firm with an owned portfolio of commercial assets. This role will lead a team of five and work closely with senior leadership on financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and portfolio-level accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of five accounting professionals
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting
• Manage accounting for a portfolio of owned commercial real estate assets
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting
• Oversee property-level and corporate accounting functions
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and capital transactions
• Review property financials and provide analysis to senior leadership
• Coordinate with property management, asset management, lenders, investors, and third-party partners
• Oversee lender and investor reporting and ensure compliance with financial requirements
• Manage year-end audits, tax support, and external accounting relationships
• Establish and maintain strong accounting controls and processes
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, reporting, and team processes

Qualifications

• Active CPA required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working for a commercial real estate owner/operator is required
• Strong understanding of property and corporate accounting
• Prior experience managing and developing an accounting team
• Experience overseeing at least 5 direct reports preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with commercial real estate financials, budgets, and cash flow
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
