Job summary

W3Global in Houston, TX, seeks a seasoned Controller (Property & Casualty Insurance) to lead technical accounting, operational finance, and strategic business partnership. You will guide budgeting, reporting, controls, and Cash/Treasury management from the local office.

The role demands 10+ years in accounting, CPA preferred, and strong US GAAP knowledge within the insurance space. You will partner with executives to drive performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with US GAAP accounting and with SEC/PCAOB standards.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience.
  • Insurance industry experience with Property/Casualty.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial partnership with the Executive team to align financial and operational goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to support company targets.
  • Oversee financial reporting processes (monthly, quarterly, annual) with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with corporate Accounting/Finance for timely performance reporting and explanations of trends.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable processes to ensure timely reconciliations and accurate policy application.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable processes to identify and resolve liabilities promptly.
  • Manage cash management and treasury relationships to ensure liquidity.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across financial, operational and compliance functions.
  • Supervise local office administration including HR, payroll, compliance and legal.
  • Collaborate with corporate Tax for reporting and audit needs.
  • Manage system/process integrations or changes with minimal disruption.
  • Handle local tax/compliance issues not controlled at the corporate level.
  • Execute ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed.

Job description

This is a leadership role that combines technical accounting expertise with hands‑on operational finance and strategic business partnership. The Controller (Property & Casualty Insurance)

Responsibilities
  • Provide financial partnership with the Executive team to ensure the financial and operational goals of the company are aligned.
  • Create the annual budget and provide appropriate metrics throughout the year to measure variance for management of the company goals.
  • Oversee the financial team to ensure timely and accurate information for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Provide financial partnership with the Executive team to ensure the financial and operational goals of the company are aligned.
  • Partner with corporate Accounting/Finance to provide timely reporting of financial performance including relevant trend/variance explanations.
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable process to ensure timely reconciliation of commission receipts and application of policy details into the operating system to support accurate operational reporting.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable process to ensure liabilities are identified and resolved timely and accurately.
  • Manage the Cash Management functions ensuring cash availability to support operating needs. Partner with corporate Treasury to manage local banking needs.
  • Establish and maintain a strong controls environment in financial, operational and compliance related functions throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the administrative functions of the local office to ensure daily functions are covered as needed and for the organization acting as the primary liaison between corporate administrative functions and local operations. These include Human Resources, Payroll, Compliance and Legal.
  • Partner with corporate Tax to provide necessary information for tax reporting or audit requirements.
  • Manage any system/process integrations or changes deemed necessary, ensuring seamless conversion without interrupting ongoing operations.
  • Manage local, state and federal financial, tax or compliance related issues which are not controlled at the corporate level.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
  • CPA (strongly preferred)
  • SEC and PCAOB experience preferred
  • Big Four or comparable public accounting experience, a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP accounting
  • 10+ years of previous accounting experience
  • Insurance industry experience required with Property/Casualty insurance
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker and a hands‑on leader
