Job summary

Expert Connections is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager level professional to lead the finance function for a growing distribution business located just north of Greenville, SC. The role will partner with leadership, remain hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations, and provide strategic financial insight to support growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience in a small-to-mid-sized business.
• Experience with ERP systems; Sage preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and deliver financial reports.
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and GL integrity.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and variance analysis.
• Develop financial models for pricing and investments.
• Strengthen controls and support audits/taxes.
• Partner with leadership for financial insights and growth.
• Maintain accounting systems and processes; Sage experience preferred.
• Drive process improvements for efficiency and scalability.

Our client, a growing international distribution company located just north of Greenville, SC, is seeking a Controller to lead the finance function and support business growth through financial planning, reporting, and strategic analysis.

The official title for the role will be Finance & Accounting Manager and will partner closely with leadership while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations.

This could be a great next step for a Senior Accountant or Controller who is ready to take broader ownership of the finance function. Rather than focusing on just one area of accounting, you would have visibility across the full financial operation and work closely with company leadership on business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close processes and prepare accurate financial reports and management accounts
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and maintain general ledger integrity
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and variance analysis
• Develop financial models to support pricing, investments, and business decisions
• Strengthen financial controls, ensure compliance, and support audit/tax processes
• Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and support growth initiatives
• Maintain and improve accounting systems and financial processes (Sage experience preferred)
• Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
• Experience in a small-to-mid-sized business environment with a hands-on approach
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and controls
• Ability to independently prepare management accounts and financial analysis
• Experience supporting senior leadership with commercial and strategic decisions
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work cross-functionally
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Sage preferred
• CPA, CMA, or similar qualification preferred but not required
• Experience within distribution, manufacturing, or fast-paced growth environments is a plus
