Why this job – CONTROLLER:

Step into a pivotal role as Controller to lead the evolution of the accounting and finance function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting directly to company ownership, this position is designed for a confident, hands‑on financial leader who thrives in a fast‑growing, operational, and field‑services environment. You will lead the critical transition from cash‑basis to GAAP accounting, implement internal controls, establish an inventory tracking system, and optimize ERP reporting. This is a great opportunity for a resilient, technically sound accounting professional looking to make a lasting mark on a scaling business.

What You'll Actually Do:
  • Lead the transition from cash-basis to full GAAP-compliant financial reporting across operating entities.
  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, streamline the monthly close turnaround time, and prepare accurate financial reporting packages for ownership.
  • Design and implement robust internal controls, revenue accounting methods, and cash forecasting templates and processes.
  • Build a comprehensive inventory tracking system from the ground up and evaluate/select corresponding software solutions.
  • Maximize the capabilities of Sage Intacct, including custom report design, module additions, and system process improvements.
  • Provide detailed financial and operational analysis to ownership, including project‑level revenue and cost reporting.
  • Support long‑term corporate growth initiatives, including tax planning strategies, potential M&A activity, and eventual business sale preparation.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
  • 10 + years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated hands‑on technical capability.
  • Strong foundation in GAAP accounting; CPA license required or strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience preparing financial statements, building cash forecasts, and implementing internal controls.
  • Experience in oil & gas, oilfield services, field services, or operationally intensive environments preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP implementations/optimizations.
  • Exceptional resilience, confidence, and communication skills—able to professionally challenge leadership, explain the "why" behind decisions, and defend technical recommendations.
Where and How Much:
  • Target Compensation: $180K – $210K.
  • Up to 20% annual performance bonus.
  • 100% In-Office, Greeley, CO.
